My latest reading list – August 2018

Author Reading list (1)

Besides being an author and a writer of my own stories, I am also an avid reader.

I love reading, as it transports me to other worlds and when I’m finished reading a book, it’s usually difficult to leave that world.

I read all different types of books, but the ones that I’m reading now, are as follows:

  1. The Runaway Pastor’s Wife by Diane Moody
  2. The battle plan for prayer by Alex and Stephen Kendrick
  3. Postcards from the heart by Ella Griffin
  4. The Bible (this one is permanently on my list)

About the books:

What could possibly drive a pastor’s wife to run away from home? After years of frustration from life in a church fishbowl, Annie McGregor walks away from it all and boards a plane for Colorado. She has no way of knowing her college sweetheart is headed to the same cabin in the Rockies, terrified and gravely wounded. Their unexpected reunion couldn’t have come at a worse time. Or could it? Bewildered that God would allow Michael Dean to walk back into her life, Annie pleads with Him to keep her heart true to her husband and her family. God answers her prayer, but in a way she would never expect. Written by a former pastor’s wife, Annie’s story provides a rare look inside the family life of those in the ministry, particularly the unique pressures on those who marry men of God.

My opinion:

I’m still reading this book, but so far I’m enjoying it. It’s different to the usual Christian fiction that I’ve read, but I’m enjoying it.

The battle plan for prayer

Inspired by the Kendrick Brothers’ new movie, War Room, this exciting new resource from the #1 best-selling author team behind The Love Dare and The Resolution for Men is designed to help anyone learn how to become a powerful person of prayer. The Battle Plan for Prayer begins with prayer’s core purpose, its biblical design, and its impact throughout history. Readers will be guided scripturally through the fundamentals of how effective prayer works, inspired towards a closer, more intimate relationship with God, and shown how to develop specific prayer strategies for each area of life. Prayer can accomplish what a willing God can accomplish. It should be your first plan of attack in all of life’s battles, not your last resort. If you want to experience the joy of mightily answered prayer, then it’s time to engage with God at another level.

My opinion:

I love this book and it has helped me immensely so far, when it comes to my prayer life. I loved the movie ‘War Room’ and wandered about how to do a ‘War Room’ of my own and this book has certainly been helping me get them.

Postcards from the heart

Life is looking up for Saffy. She has a great job, a gorgeous flat in the most desirable part of Dublin and – after six years – it looks like her boyfriend, Greg, is going to propose. Greg (just voted the 9th most eligible man in Ireland) is on a high, too – he’s about to swap his part as a heart-throb in an Irish soap for a break in Hollywood.

His best mate Conor wakes up every morning with Jess, the most beautiful woman on the planet but, even after seven years and two kids, she won’t get married. He spends his days teaching teenagers and his nights writing the book he hopes will change everything, including Jess’s mind.

But their happy endings are playing hard to get. It seems everyone’s keeping secrets – one night stands, heartbreak, grief and loss are all in the mix. It’s going to take some tough questions and even tougher answers before anyone’s being honest – even with themselves.

My opinion:

I have started reading this book, but I am thoroughly enjoying it so far. I really enjoy this genre.

Serendipity Bible

Well…it’s the Word of God. Not much more I can say about that, or we’ll be here all day. This is one book I try and read almost daily.

My opinion:

I obviously love reading my Bible. It gives me assistance on day to day living and gives me God’s promises that I can stand on daily. I always feel better after reading God’s Word.

These are the books on my latest reading list. Sometimes I get into a reading frenzy and I read about six books in four days….fun times.

That’s it from me for now…
