Symbolizes married happiness

Happy birthday to all the August babies. Phew, we have had quite a few August birthdays indeed! Your beautiful birthstone (well, one of them), symbolizes married happiness and it was also known as the ‘stone of virtue’.
The Sardonyx was named after the ancient city of Sardix, which was the capital of Lydia (now known as Turkey). It’s a variety of onyx and is made up of layers of clear red or reddish-brown carnelian and alternating with layers of white chalcedony.
It was also said to have been one of the stones in the breastplate of the ancient high priest. It has also been named as the fifth stone in the wall of the New Jerusalem.
In the past it was mostly used in early Egyptian days in talismanic rings, cameo’s and seals. It is quite a lovely stone.
This necklace was made with Sardonyx tumbled gemstones and crystals. The price is R95. To place your order, please complete the form on my ‘Contact me’ page. I would also love to hear from you, so please leave a comment below.
