At Skoobs Theatre of Books, Monte Casino
At one of our Indie Author Networking evenings, they decided to get Ashleigh to lead us in a Blurb War game. It was a lot of fun and very interesting to see what people could come up within just minutes.
If you are an author, then you know that blurbs are from the devil! They are very difficult to write for most authors because they could be one of the factors that could make or break your book sales.
This was an extremely helpful exercise and I still continue to do these blurbs and writing prompts in order to keep my writing and imagination on point. It’s also fun to write something that’s not in your genre to give you a bit of a ‘change of scenery’.
The first photo below is of Evadeen and I busy writing our blurb. The second photo is of Jacques and I busy listening to Ashleigh which was telling us what the process is.

The next photo is of some of the examples of the blurb war pages that were left over and given to us by Ashleigh to take home and practice on.

The last photo is of the sheet that I worked on with my Title, Elevator Pitch, and Blurb. It was for an Action/Thriller type book … quite the learning curve because I write Chick Lit and Poetry.

If you are a writer then I would suggest that you Google a few of these and start having fun. You can also find quite a few on Pinterest.
That’s it from me for now…
