While Debbie drove to her interview, she couldn’t help but feel a little apprehensive. She wasn’t sure why she felt this way because she was sure Brandon wasn’t nearby. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that she should have been stronger and told the police that it was him that had beaten her up. She should have done more to make him pay and now…maybe he was doing it to someone else. What if that person dies? Then that blood could very well be on her hands too.

She vowed to herself that she would never be weak like that again. She would stand strong.

Now, she needed to stop psyching herself out and concentrate on the interview.

In the reception area, Debbie started feeling that old feeling that she was being watched. It was like a sixth sense that had developed that warned her of danger. She shivered and tried to shake the feeling off.

Someone fetched her for the interview and she was escorted into a boardroom for the interview. The PA told her that she would be interviewed by the CEO, the CFO, and the manager of the department she was applying for. As she walked into the room and turned around, Debbie almost screamed.

Sitting at the table with an evil expression of triumph on his face, was Brandon. Debbie lost her words and fear started taking over her. One of the men walked up to her and was asking if she was not feeling well but she hardly heard him. There was a ringing in her ears.

At that point, the man that was standing by her, which she found out later, was the CEO, saw the look of fear that she had on her face when staring at Brandon and then he also noticed the evil sneer that Brandon had on his face. He swiftly turned her around and gently maneuvered her out of the room. He seemed to have read between the lines.

He gave her a glass of water and asked her what was wrong. She could still see Brandon staring holes into her behind the CEO. His eyes were warning her to keep quiet or else.

Then she remembered a vow she had just made to herself while driving. This was her time to make a stand.

She looked at the CEO and told him everything. The words flowed out of her like a river. He asked if the neighbours would bear witness and she confirmed that they would. They hadn’t understood why she didn’t want him to be put away for attempted murder in the first place. The CEO called security and told them to also call the cops. The security team came and put Brandon in cuffs.

Brandon was shouting obscenities at this point. Threatening to kill me this time. He was digging his hole a lot deeper because now she had even more witnesses.

The cops arrived quickly and took him into custody. They took my statement and the statements of everyone that had been involved and the details of the neighbours that needed to be the witnesses.

Once they had left and everything had gone semi-normal, the CFO asked if they could still interview me but this time for the manager position. He had a naughty glint in his eye when he said that the position had just come available.
