I have read quite a few books from the 23rd of April to the 18th of May. I have decided to break them up into different posts so that it’s not overwhelming in one post.
All of these books are available on Amazon and Kindle.
Nutrish ‘n Delish by Alani Keiser
About the book
I’ve created a line of raw vegan foods called Nutrish ‘n Delish®. This is you having your vegan cake and eating it, too – you’re not required to eat food that tastes like tree bark. You can actually savor every morsel, drool as you think about it and/or eat it, and be left reeling from the feeling as your body is fed as much as your taste buds are titillated. You’ll be healthier, hydrated, more energized, you won’t feel guilty about any animals that may have had to suffer for your pleasure, and, best of all, you’ll lose inches around your waist and look sexy as hell in a bikini or your boxers!
The amazing thing is, you won’t need to worry about counting calories or actually behaving on a raw vegan plant based lifestyle; all foods are packed with nutrients to help you live your optimal life.
This book not only provides you with new ideas for salads, but it also shows you how to make cakes and desserts which match those of the cooked food industry. I point out what you need in your kitchen, to make it easier for individuals new to this lifestyle, and I provide you with small recipe tips to help make your raw food making experience easier and more pleasurable.
The book is filled with color pictures taken by me, to emphasize how anyone at home can create these dishes (isn’t it frustrating when you try a new recipe but it just doesn’t seem to turn out like the authors pictures? Well, take a look inside, this is as easy as it gets).
Are you craving cake, but don’t want the guilt? I have a recipe!
Do you want to eat something light for lunch? I have a recipe!
With years of experimenting, I’ve come up with amazing flavor combinations. From creamy dill to zesty avocado; these flavors will definitely satisfy your food desires as a raw vegan!
I also give some tips on raw living; to help you live a life of higher existence!
Please join me in a celebration of YOUR culinary arts as you “cook” from this Nutrish ‘n Delish® range – and lick the plate clean when no one’s watching!
Even though I am not vegan, I absolutely love Alani’s dishes and smoothies. When I first tried them and saw the ingredients, I thought they would not taste very good and that it was one of those ‘acquired taste’ moments, but it wasn’t.
These recipes are divine, even for those people that are not vegan. It will work as a replacement for some meals and help you get a lot healthier too.
Vampire Addiction by Eva Pohler
About the book
Some call them “tramps.” In Greek, they are called vrykolakas, or “vryks,” which sometimes gets translated to “freaks.” They are the vampires of Athens, created centuries ago by the Maenads. They live in caves beneath the acropolis, without economic resources and according to rules imposed on them by the Olympians. They are forbidden from turning humans into vampires, which happens when all of the blood is drained; however, they are allowed to drink from a willing mortal. Some mortals are willing because a vampire bite will infect the body for six hours, and, during that time, the mortal has the powers of flight, invisibility, strength, speed, x-ray vision, and mind control. Such great power can become irresistible, though dangerous and addicting to mortals.
As seventeen-year-old Gertie, studying abroad from New York, uncovers the unfathomable secrets of this ancient city, she unwittingly becomes a catalyst in an uprising led by Dionysus, the god of wine and lord of the vampires.
This book was an easy read. I love the new cover on Kindle, it’s stunning! I was a little disappointed in Gertrude as I expected her to be a little more intelligent when it came to vampires, especially seen as she knew so much about them.
I would like to read the next book to see if she gets to fix what has been broken and to see if she’s going to date the demigod. I would also like to know what happens with her host family.
Elemental Rising by Toni Cox
About the book
Maia, Elf princess of Elveron, has studied for almost a century to become a Prime Elemental but, when she finally completes her final test, which she had to take on Earth, something unexpected happens, and she brings with her the very thing she tried to leave behind.
Now she is faced with responsibilities she thinks she is not ready for, a love she does not reciprocate, and a threat to her people that might kill them all. Young, inexperienced, and unsure of her powers, she only has her desire to save her people that drives her into battle.
But she is not alone. She has her mentor, Silas, and her dragon, Midnight, who stand by her side as she embarks on an adventure to save not just herself, but the rest of the nation of Grildor as well.
I enjoyed reading this book and would love to read the rest of the series. I enjoyed the magical world that Toni created and truly hope that Earth never gets to the point of the Earth in her story.
I feel sad for Aaron and I hope that in the following books he is not shattered. I also thought that Midnight was a nice touch.
I loved the strong elf princess that can kick ass and has magical powers to boot. Toni made me want to read more and I couldn’t put the book down. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves fantasy.
And don’t you just love the cover?
Magenta Mine by Janet Elizabeth Henderson
About the book
Harry Boyle’s genius IQ has failed him. The alpha geek stupidly followed relationship advice from Invertary’s resident evil mastermind—eighty-seven year old Betty. That’s how he ended up trapped in an abandoned mine waiting to be rescued by his high school crush. The same crush he still loves. The one he’s come back to town to claim.
Magenta Fraser doesn’t want to be claimed—what is this? The Stone Age? The sarcastic Goth with a fondness for hitting first and asking questions later has been avoiding Harry. He’s her Kryptonite. Around him she loses her badass powers and becomes a pathetic giggling girl. As the local caving expert, she has no choice but to rescue the man. But that doesn’t mean she has to talk to him. Or touch him. Or do any of the other X-rated things that keep popping into her mind. All she has to do is resist him, rescue him and then run from him—before he uncovers her secret.
I enjoyed this cute love story. It felt quite close to what would happen in the real world which made it more enjoyable.
I like that the geek is also hot and not just cute and geeky like they are in most stories. I also like how the scary goth is actually quite soft underneath.
Power Thoughts by Joyce Meyer
About the book
Joyce Meyer has a knack for coining phrases-her fans call them Joyceisms -and one of her best loved is “Where the mind goes, the man follows.” This was the basis for Battlefield of the Mind, and in her latest book, Meyer provides “power thoughts,” bringing the reader to a new level of ability to use the mind as a tool to achievement.
In POWER THOUGHTS, she outlines a flexible program to turn thoughts into habits, and habits into success. Sections include:
· The Power of a Positive You
· 5 Rules for Keeping Your Attitude at the Right Altitude
· More Power To You bulleted keys to successful thinking in each chapter
· The Power of Perspective
Nobody has more of a “can-do” attitude than Joyce Meyer. Now you can, too.
As usual, Joyce has done an exceptional job. This book has teached me to deal with almost every problem that I might come against in my mind. It has helped me to see the positive in most situations and to turn to God and His Word first.
I would recommend this book to anybody that needs guidance in their everyday lives and that has allowed negativity to take over their view.
I will be going through each of the 12 power thoughts with my family for the next 13 weeks because I believe it will uplift them in this time as well.
That’s it from me for now…
