American Minister
(1929 – 1968)

Martin Luther King Jnr was born on the 15th of January 1929. He was originally named Michael but he later changed it Martin. His grandfather and father served as pastors at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta and until his death, Martin Luther acted as co-pastor.
Martin Luther attended segregated public schools in Georgia and he graduated from high school at the age of fifteen. He then attended Morehouse College and received the B.A. degree in 1948. Martin Luther went through many attacks on his character and personally and yet he still maintained his Christian view on life and people.
Besides being famous for the ‘I have a dream’ speech that he gave he had many other quotes that are dynamic and good to live by. He was going to lead a protest march in sympathy with striking garbage workers of the city of Memphis, Tennessee and was standing on the balcony of his motel room when he was assassinated.
Why anyone would assassinate a man of his stature is beyond me. Martin Luther had good ideals and stood for many good things. We salute you!

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.
We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.
All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.
Rarely do we find men who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think.
Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.
I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.
It is not enough to say we must not wage war. It is necessary to love peace and sacrifice for it.
People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don’t know each other; they don’t know each other because they have not communicated with each other.
That’s it from me for now…
