Not year specific

I don’t have much time to watch movies or series but sometimes, if I’m working on a book cover or social media graphics or any other thing that I’m doing that doesn’t require me to have perfect concentration, then I can put a movie or series on and watch it.
I thought I’d share some of my favourites that I’ve watched in the past year. Not all of them are from 2020 or 2021, some are older. There are also many other movies and series’ that I love, but there can be only 5 at the top of the ladder, haha.
Series
#1 Shadowhunters

Yes, I watched it again…don’t look at me like that! I love this series and I love Cassandra Clare’s books.
About the series:
On her birthday, Clary Fray discovers a surprise concerning her life. The teenager is not who she thinks she is — she comes from a long line of human-angel hybrids, called Shadowhunters, who hunt demons. After her mother is kidnapped, Clary is thrust into the world of demon-hunting. Clary relies on mysterious Jace and fellow hunters Isabelle and Alec to help her navigate the dark world. While living in this new world among creatures like vampires and werewolves, Clary’s best friend Simon helps her uncover answers that could help her find her mother.
#2 Fate: The Winx Saga

You bet I love fairies…who doesn’t? I used to love watching the animated version of this every week even as an adult.
About the series:
Fairies attend a magical boarding school in the Otherworld, where they must learn to master their magical powers while navigating love, rivalries and the monsters that threaten their very existence.
#3 Emily in Paris

I can’t wait for the second one. It was just the right amount of naughty, frustrating and downright hilarious!
About the series:
Chicago marketing executive Emily Cooper is hired to provide an American perspective at a marketing firm in Paris.
#4 Scorpion

I loved how the geniuses worked things out and always in the nick of time. I also found their interactions with each other and other people hilarious.
About the series:
Cabe Gallo recruit’s computer intellect Walter O’Brien, who has a 197 IQ, and his own team of bright experts. Together they solve major crises that arise around the globe.
#5 The Magicians

Now, a confession…I haven’t finished watching this series, I’m still on season one but so far, I’m enjoying it.
About the series:
When Quentin gets enrolled at Brakebills, a secret school for magicians, he learns that the fantasy world which he read about as a child is real and has become a threat to humanity.

Movies
#1 Aquaman

I only watched this movie last year for the first time and I loved it. Not only is Jason Momoa eye candy, but he is quite funny as well. I am also a sucker for DC Comic movies, as well as Marvel.
About the movie:
Half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur is born with the ability to communicate with marine creatures. He goes on a quest to retrieve the legendary Trident of Atlan and protect the water world.
#2 Artemis Fowl

Once again…a movie with fairies in and fantasy in general. Loved it!
About the movie:
In an attempt to find his missing father, Artemis Fowl, a 12-year-old criminal prodigy, comes across the secret world of fairies. Soon, he ends up in a deadly battle with the powerful fairies.
#3 Black Widow

Who doesn’t love Black Widow showing people who’s boss. I love how well Scarlett Johansson plays her role. I love girl power movies and this is definitely one of those!
About the movie:
Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy, and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.
#4 Captain Marvel

A Marvel Comics movie (which are my favourites) and it’s a girl power movie. She is also funny which makes it that much better. I only got to watch this one last year as well.
About the movie:
Amidst a mission, Vers, a Kree warrior, gets separated from her team and is stranded on Earth. However, her life takes an unusual turn after she teams up with Fury, a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.
#5 Charlie’s Angels

I loved the movies with Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Lu in as well, but this one was also brilliant. It was strange watching Kirsten Stewart in this role but I thought she nailed it. And yes, it’s a girl power movie…again, haha!
About the movie:
A team of female private agents, popularly known as Charlie’s Angels, are tasked by their mysterious boss to expose an international conspiracy to weaponize an energy conservation device.
