About the book
Mackenzie Allen Philips’ youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment, he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack’s world forever.

My thoughts
This book amazed me. It was such a beautiful story of God’s love for us and it made me wish I could meet with God like that. It also made me cry like you won’t believe because of the gut-wrenching reason that Mackenzie was in the mental state that he was in. I can understand the loss of a child but not in the way that he lost his daughter. I think it would take everything inside of me not to burn the world down around me looking for the guilty party.
This story touched the deepest parts of me. Those parts that I hide. I would love to have an encounter with the Holy Trinity like this, more than words can say.
Just a note, I know the theology is not sound in this book, but it is a work of fiction. I loved it for what could be and not for what is.
