Book Summary

(From Goodreads)

In the hustle and bustle of today’s busy world, sometimes it’s hard enough to hear yourself think, much less take a minute to stop and listen for the voice of God. But learning to recognize God’s voice and the many ways in which He speaks is vital for following His plan. In “How to Hear from God,” Joyce Meyer shows readers that God reaches out to people every day, seeking a partnership with them to offer guidance and love. She reveals the ways in which God delivers His word and the benefits of asking God for the sensitivity to hear His voice. Joyce asks the question, “Are you listening?” and shares how to do just that.

My Thoughts

I borrowed this book from my mom but I now want my own copy so that I can go through it again and highlight important parts. How to hear from God is a book that helps you with exactly what the title says. It teaches valuable lessons. This book affected me in such a positive way. It’s a subject that I have struggled with and Joyce wrote this book so well that it felt like she wrote it for me.

As it is with all of Joyce’s books, I learnt many valuable lessons. Almost every page had a valuable lesson. But I would say the most valuable lesson that I learnt from this whole book was how to hear from God, as the title says. I grew spiritually reading this because I learnt how to hear from God and what I was doing wrong that made me not hear Him.

I will be serving the Lord more confidently because of being able to hear from Him and then confidently taking the necessary next steps. I praised the Lord for Joyce and this book that she wrote that I’m sure God knew I would one day need to read. I had so many light bulb moments while reading this that I started feeling like a LED light. God really used it to get through to me on many aspects and not just on hearing Him.

As always, I love Joyce’s writing style. It’s easy to read, humorous and educational. As with all of Joyce’s books that I have read and the sermons that I have heard of hers, she is biblically sound. She always refers back to the Bible to support what she’s saying unless it’s her own opinion. But if it’s her own opinion, she informs you that it is. I have read many books by Joyce and will be reading many more. She is my all-time favourite author. I can recommend this book to anyone that needs help with hearing from God. It was inspiring, moving, uplifting, and had humour at times and I am grateful that I got to read it.
