Bohemian Tassel Bags

Well, I am a gypsy child and I love hippie and bohemian style so I decided to try my hand at a tassel bag. My mom was my first client, so I made her one in browns with champagne colours and creams.

Due to the tassel bags costing a fortune, I decided to buy a normal bag and add the tassels myself. This was an absolute nightmare. My sewing machine complained and I broke 2 needles trying to sew the tassels onto the bag. I eventually had to get someone I worked with to take it to Joburg town for me and get it sewn by a person with a machine that could do it. I really need to find someone that can make the bags for me from scratch, with the tassels on as well.

I don’t have the before photo’s of the bag. but here are the after photos. I was actually quite proud of the outcome.

I then decided to do a bag for myself. After doing my mom’s bag, I actually couldn’t wait to have my own.

Unfortunately, I had to go through the same issues I did with my mom’s bag, but the outcome was well worth the effort (although I won’t go through the same effort again).

I added chains, feathers, a main focal point and beading. I loved the outcome and I think it looks fun and different.

And then finally! I am so excited to announce that my Boho bags are now available to buy. I create them on order and the cost is a low R450 each.

Considering the previous bags costed over R600 to create, this is an absolute bargain!

So if you love all things gypsy and consider yourself a Bohemian at heart, then you will love these bags.
