Yes, Cape Town is beautiful, but Johannesburg also has its beauty and it’s quite often forgotten or unseen. I decided that I wanted to show you that Johannesburg can also entertain you and that you can have fun here too. I have only mentioned 7 places but there are many places that you can go. There are even places just outside of Johannesburg. Gauteng is beautiful, you just need to know where to look.

#1 Gold Reef City

It’s not only a theme park, but also has a casino, restaurants, hotel, various souvenir shops and other entertainment like theatre and movies.

R200 per person entry fee.

Ticket sales are online only.

#2 Ice-skating at Northgate

They have special on certain days. The rink is beautiful and lots of fun…even if you fall on your rear end a few times, haha!

R80 per person and R35 for skate hire.

You can book online to avoid disappointment as they have limited space.

#3 Monte Casino

Bird Gardens

They have a walk-through Aviary, you’ll find over 60 species of birds, reptiles and small mammals, with smaller antelope wandering freely in the undergrowth.

Adults are R90 per person and kids under 11 and pensioners are R62 per person.

The Magic Company

There’s ten pin bowling and many other games available at various prices.

Monte Casino itself has many different forms of entertainment. Even walking around and enjoying the beautiful décor will add to your visit.

#5 Johannesburg Zoo

The zoo was founded in 1904. It’s beautiful place to go and view. They have over 320 species of animals, totaling about 2000 animals.

Children [3 to 12], Pensioners & Students: R65

Parking: R15

#6 Keyes Art Mile

It is the newest Art Precinct in Johannesburg, situated in Keyes Avenue in Rosebank. It is not only an assemblage of galleries, design stores and fine restaurants, but a creative hub for people to connect, experience and share.

#7 The Linden Market

It is a 2-day quarterly outdoor market held at the Emmerentia Botanical Gardens in Johannesburg. Gates open from 9 am – 4:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
