Life Lately: Creating, Planning & Figuring It All Out (With a Smile… Mostly)
So, here’s a little peek into what’s been happening on my side lately. Think of this as a catch-up over coffee, just without me holding mine in a vice grip, whispering “My precious” and trying to calm my frazzled self.
Business Bits & Creative Chaos
I’ve been knee-deep in words lately; taglines, product descriptions, promo posts… You name it, I’ve probably rewritten it ten times. From refining my clients’ one company’s strong-and-stylish vibe to capturing the adventurous spirit of his other company and the whimsical vibe of his third company, my brain has been living in “creative copy mode” for ages now. Then I had to do it for my own company and the planner that I had on a pre-order campaign, which ended on the 31st of October.
It’s strangely fun.
Also, strangely exhausting.
But mostly fun.
For someone who does not actually like doing social media, I sure do a LOT of it. Like drafting Facebook posts, Black Friday announcements or anything promo-related. Trying to sound confident while Googling “Is this too long?” every five minutes. It’s also been a season of getting my online presence in order for Boss Girl Stationery, polishing up the small details, and trying to be just a little more consistent without losing my sanity and trying to share tips and tricks on how to be organised with a planner.
The most fun to be had is when I got all the planners from the printer and started packaging them for those that pre-ordered and delivering them to them and seeing their reactions. That has been the best because everyone has loved them.
The least fun I had was dealing with the printers which, oh my word!! I don’t even want to discuss them as I’m still trying to heal from the trauma of dealing with them. Needless to say, I am looking for a new printer once again. I have to wonder if there are any good printing companies in South Africa that offer competitive prices, good quality and good service. I feel like I’m searching for a unicorn.
I also took the leap of faith in myself and started selling my photos on Shutterstock and have been looking for new ideas for photos to sell. I was so excited when they approved all of them because the imposter syndrome struggle is real sometimes. I’m very excited for them to be shared with the world. We could all do with a little extra money **wink wink**.
Blog & YouTube: Behind-the-Scenes Brainstorming
The blog and YouTube have been living rent-free in my mind lately. Not in a stressful way but more in a “I have 37 ideas and need to choose one” way. Also, I’m doing a lot of video editing of DIY videos done in bulk and because I’m not using a fancy video editor currently, it takes a little time. But, if I chip away at it, then it will eventually get done (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it).
When it comes to the blog, you will see that I am adding a variety of things, which include interesting Bible studies that I do for myself and feel like sharing because it’s too good not to and a few tips and tricks that I’ve picked up along the way. I also include an ARC book review here and there and will do more book reviews next year. I have read embarrassingly too little this year as I’ve thrown myself into work and forgotten to do things that make me relax and enjoy life. Oh, the things I could tell you… I’ve been learning new tools, figuring out platform integrations, and trying to make things easier for myself behind the scenes so I can actually create more and overthink less.

Life Stuff (Because There’s Always Life Stuff)
In between having my mom land in hospital twice and the second time finding out that if she had left it, she would have been dead in three months (something the doctors at the previous hospital neglected to pick up) and they have diagnosed her with 30% cardiovascular disease but we don’t accept that diagnosis and believe that he is healed in Jesus’ name, amen!
I’ve also been trying to make sure that I keep acting and thinking like a Christian and being more Christ-like, which, as a human, is not always easy, let me tell you (although I’m quite sure you know yourself) and also trying to be a functional human. Some days I succeed. Some days… well, we move on.
And… I opened a type of tip jar!
You may have seen in a few of my previous blog posts, I have placed the below block and if you click on the block, it will take you to Yoco in order to make a tip payment and my PayPal details are also on the block if you’d rather use that.
This is relatively new and a little nerve-wracking to mention but I’ve added this ‘tip jar’, if you will, for anyone who wants to support this blog, YouTube, and all the creative chaos I pour myself into. No pressure. Ever.
But if you ever feel like tossing a little “Hey, keep going!” my way, it genuinely helps more than you’d think.
Anyhoo, that is me for now. I don’t want to completely bore you to tears with an update, but I hope this was just enough update for you to handle. I feel like I’ve left something important out and I can’t think of it now… oh well, maybe next time!
