Cleaning Makeup Brushes

My Way

This is the way that I do my makeup, and it works for me. Other methods may work for you.

What you’ll need:

– Warm water in a holder

Body wash, shampoo, or a mild soap

Towel laid flat

Steps:

#1 After putting the warm water in the holder, I added the soap, mixed it with one of the makeup brushes and cleaned it at the same time.

#2 I then added all the brushes to the water and started cleaning them one by one. Be careful with the bristles and don’t be too hard on your brushes. You also need to work as fast as possible and you don’t want the brushes to soak too long because it messes with the glue that holds your brushes to the handle.

#3 Dry your brush on the towel and lay it out to dry.

#4 With your beauty blenders and sponges, you can clean them in the same holder, but I find it easier to do it in the basin. I used the holder for the video purposes. I added more soap onto the actual sponge and ‘massaged’ the soap into it and then rinsed it. I repeated this process until the sponges were clean.

#5 The brushes can dry where you originally laid them out. I put mine in the sun because I needed to do my makeup a bit later. If you also lay yours in the sun, be careful not to forget it there because it could also damage your bristles and the handles.

  1. When I finally get around to cleaning my brushes, I feel so much better. There’s nothing like bouncing a squeaky clean Beautyblender on your face, knowing you’re not just spreading around caked on makeup from past uses. Not only is cleaning your tools important to keeping them around longer, but it also rids them of bacteria build-up that can cause breakouts .
